The Jamie Oliver Group is growing. In spring 2025, we’re launching a flagship cookery school and cafe with John Lewis & Partners in their Oxford Street store! As such, our team is expanding, and we’re looking to grow our Front of House team.
You’re here to be part of the best-in-class cafe and cookery school. You’ll be responsible for hosting, serving guests, and sharing the passion for quality food and drinks. Your key duties will be espresso machine maintenance, dialling in, setting up and closing down the cafe, serving and hosting guests, following Health and Safety and Food Safety procedures, and being versed in the coffee and food offerings and cookery classes experience.
Your love of specialty coffee, fresh quality food and your passion for people will ensure every guest has an excellent experience with us. Requirements
The Cafe Jamie Oliver barista needs to be a people person with a big smile and an even bigger wealth of knowledge about the specialty coffee, food menu, drinks list, and Jamie Oliver Cookery School as a whole. You need to have experience in working with specialty coffee and be proficient in milk texturing. You can work quickly and efficiently under pressure while maintaining sky-high standards of presentation and fantastic attention to detail. You thrive under pressure and have a real passion for exceptional guest service and standards. You are a team player who leads from the front and a genuine brand ambassador for the Cafe and Cookery School and all things Jamie Oliver.
Excellent Guest Service - Welcoming & Hosting. You are the host! - Manage all requests and serve guests their favorite drinks and food. - Master the specialty coffee, drinks, and food menu and make them with delight. - Master milk texturing and pouring for top-notch coffee quality. - Hear amazing stories from our suppliers and relay their ethos and passion to our guests. - Champion Jamie values. - Ensure your guests have an experience that exceeds their expectations. - Remain calm – our cafe gets busy. - Be versatile in Jamie Oliver Cafe and Cookery School’s offerings and experience.
Operational Excellence You are responsible for your shifts being run optimally. They must be efficient, effective, and professional: - Understand the value of specialty coffee and do dialling in daily. - Do regular espresso machine cleaning and maintenance. - Be proud of and keep the cafe display and dining room clean and sparkling. - Maintain stock levels for the cafe when on shift. - Set up and close down the cafe according to JOCS standards. - Efficient use of resources. Ensuring food waste is kept to a minimum. - Work closely with the General Manager to ensure food and drink stock is managed and accounted for. - You will understand the importance of, and pride yourself on, keeping the back of house areas clean and organized.
Food Safety, Hygiene & Health and Safety
You are responsible and accountable for our exceptionally high regard for food safety, HACCP, H&S, and hygiene.
- Maintain the required Health and Safety and Jamie’s standards.
- Work to the highest Food Safety Standards.
- Follow all HACCP guidelines and health and safety requirements.
- Hygiene and presentation. You’ll have a high level of respect and care for the businesses, and your own hygiene and presentation.
